CONCEPT
This editorial piece was designed to push me out of my comfort zone. I deigned to the spread as I worked with this lengthy article. The writing was filled with personality which is what drove the style of my design direction. It consisted of fifteen pages and I have showcased five of my spreads here.
ARTICLE
In the article βWhat is the Monkeysphere?β, David Wong explains the science behind the concept of the Monkeysphere using a comical approach. For those who have never heard of it your Monkeysphere is the amount of people you have room to empathize for in your life. For humans, our Monkeyspheres are considered to be 150 people; others outside of that number begin to turn into one-dimensional characters.
INSPIRATION
I decided to display the meaning of this article through a limited color palette and the use of calligrams. The calligrams created the monkeys and illustrated what groups of people we have room for in our minds.
